Greetings!

I'm a Trekkie. I've been one since the age of 9 when I saw my first episode of TNG. So it's only natural that I have a Star Trek section on my site. It started as a collection of bullet point lists about a Discovery re-watch that I transferred from social media to here. Now I've started to re-organise and add other pages.

My Star Trek origin story

Who doesn't like a good origin story!?

It was early December of 19901, I was 9 years old and in my cousin‘s room. My aunt held a St. Nicholas/ Advent coffee at her house and I was there with my parents. My grandparents were there too, and probably also my other aunt. Anyway, my cousin had his own tv and at some point he put this new show on. At that time I'd been very into all things space. Not necessarily science wise yet, but tv shows like "Schlupp vom grünen Stern", or songs like "Major Tom (Völlig Losgelöst)" or "Codo" were my thing.

Back to my cousin's room and his tv. I remember two things: A snow ball flying out of the holodeck hitting Picard (which made my first episode of Trek "Angel 1"), and the title sequence, esp. the Enterprise going to warp at the end. That was when my cousin said to me: "We have everything we needed to build a space ship like that today, except for the blue light. We only need the blue light." My 9 year old mind was totally blown away. So much so that I jumped up and ran downstairs to tell my mother. This was huge news everybody should be talking about. Why wasn't anyone talking about it? Why hadn't I heard anything of this before now? I interruped the adults' conversation to tell them all about it. And was very confused when they weren't as excited about it all as I was. Infact, they were probably just as confused as I was, and maybe also a little annoyed. This all embarassed me a lot. Had I misunderstood something? So I ran back upstairs again to watch the show.

Of course I had misunderstood something very much. LOL But anyway, I‘ve been a fan ever since. And season 1 Riker is still my favourite Riker.

  1. I have researched the airdates of TNG on German TV for confirmation. According to that data I could place this memory in time - and it actually all makes sense.

Some things I made

A gif made of three images. I shows a knitted doll of David Bowie sitting atop a knitted cushion. In front of the cushion sits a knitted doll of Spock. Next to him an action figure of Capt. Calhoun. Spock turns his head up to Bowie, then Bowie turns his head down to Spock.
