Weeknotes - W43/2026 (No.9)

posted on:

What started quitely turned into an... interesting week. I ended up not having enough energy of getting further along with some blog articles I started to write, or of putting all the fun links into these weeknotes that I wanted to. But there's always next week, or the one after that, etc. The good news: We're back to standard time. (I hate DST with a passion.)

Goings on 🚶‍♀️‍➡️

  • Last week I asked the fedi people how many articles I should keep in my RSS feed. 23 people have voted, of which 12 said to keep all of them. 8 said to keep only 10-15 articles. The other 3 votes went for the two options of up to 50 and up to 100 articles in the feed. I find it interesting that most people voted for the two extremes. Not helpful, people! (j/k) I only have slightly over 50 articles published so far, but with the weekly weeknotes that number will go up fast now. One suggestion was to not go by number of articles, but by time frame. E.g. say to keep posts of the last 6 months. Since I update my feed by hand, that wouldn't result in an empty feed even if I stopped blogging. I kinda like that approach. We'll see. As of now I haven't decided anything and so it will remain to be all articles in my feed for now.
  • When I came home on Thursday, it was already half past 8 in the evening, I heard a cat meowing nearby. But it wasn't coming from anywhere behind me, or around the corner. No, it came from inside my flat! However, I don't have a cat. And yet, when I opened the door, a cate came out, looking at me with big eyes meowing and meowing. I was very surprised. I had never seen the cat before. I went inside and looked if I left a window open, which I did not. She followed me around, looking up at me and meowing all the time. I felt very sorry for the kitty, because she was locked into my flat all day without food or water. She probably has a home and had been missed already. So eventually I shut the door in front of her to make her go home. But how did she come in? I guess she must have slipped in unnoticed in the morning, when I went in and out a few times before finally leaving.
  • Friday morning was extremely stressful and everything that happened only made me more sure I might have ADHD. I was completely exhausted and besides myself all day as a result of that stress. And frankly, Saturday was recovery day too. By chance I had started to read a book about ADHD and keeping house the day before that only reinforced my suspicion.

  • Said book I started is a new German one called Wieso ist hier schon wieder Chaos? (Why is there such a mess here again?) by Sabrina Müller. It explains in easy words what happens in ADHD brains, and gives examples of how that manifests. Reading those I wanted to cry. Mostly tears of relief. It also gives tipps of how to counteract - and encourages readers more than once to seek out a doctor and/ or therapist. I guess I should better follow that advice.
  • Watched the next Columbo in my great re-watch: Publish or Perish.
  • Also continued my great DS9 re-watch with season 6, episode 18 Inquisition. The one where we get introduced to Section 31. By now I'm super bored with the bad apples stories, but this show is 30 years old, so it's ok. I'm also not a fan of Section 31 specifically. This episode is really good in showing that they are rotten, which I like. However, I really wished they would have handled them differently than they ultimately did. I wished they hadn't turned them into fun action heroes, but found a way to expose them and abolish them for good. That would have been a better Trek story than what we got in the end (30 years later).
